weather for Florida:
Florida,
365 days a year sunshine!! Perfect for that family holiday!
The weather in Florida is generally sunny all year around.
Don’t forget your sunglasses, cap and sun block to protect
your skin. Jeans and t-shirts are appropriate daywear if you are
visiting in the summer months. A light jacket is recommended for
winter month evenings.
Spring (March – May)
High temperatures in the upper 80’s. Lows possible in the
50’s. Plenty of sunshine but spring showers are common.
You should be comfortable in swimwear, shorts and light clothing
for the day, with sweaters for the cooler evenings.
Summer
(June – September)
Daily temperatures can be in the 90’s. Late afternoon thunderstorms
are possible, usually lasting only an hour.
Why not have a siesta in the villa during the afternoon, returning
to the parks in the evening to view the shows.
Remember to cover up with high factor sun creams and drink plenty
of water.
Autumn
(October – December)
Plenty of sunshine with highs in the 80’s and lows in the
60’s. Ideal weather for those who don’t want the extreme
heat of the summer.
Winter
(December – February)
Temperatures are cooler but can still be in the 70’s during
the day with lower temperatures in the evening around the mid
50’s. You will still want to pack your swimwear and light
clothing but take long sleeved tops or jackets for the cooler
evenings. The native Floridians will be noticeable for their ‘warm
winter clothing’ but it’s more like warm spring weather
for those of us used to the UK!

Tourist
Guides:
You
can purchase a number of really good guide books from the UK to
help you plan your holiday in Florida, and this is well worth
doing if it is your first visit.
Also,
when you arrive, look out for and pick up the numerous free guides
and listings that have all the latest news on the attractions
and maps of the area. Many of these have money off coupons for
restaurants, shops, golf green fees etc. and can prove very useful.

Visa
Waiver / Electronic System for Travel Authorization:
There
is currently a Visa Waiver in place for UK citizens traveling
in and out of the USA on holiday. This means that, providing your
passport is a recent passport and has an electronic tag on it,
you will not be required to complete the temporary holiday visa
form. However, International travelers who are seeking to travel
to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program are now subject
to enhanced security requirements. All eligible travelers who
wish to travel under the Visa Waiver Program must apply online
for authorization through the Electronic
System for Travel Authorization (ESTA from the U.S. Department
of Homeland Security [DHS] and the U.S. Customs and Boarder Control
[CBP]).
All
passengers traveling under the Visa Waiver Program are required
to have an approved travel authorization prior to traveling to
the United States by air or sea. Even non-ticketed infants are
required to have an approved travel authorization, if they do
not have a visa for travel to the United States. An application
may be submitted by a third party on behalf of a Visa Waiver Program
traveler.
Applications
may be submitted at any time prior to travel to the United States.
The Department of Homeland Security recommends that travel authorization
applications be submitted at least 72 hours prior to travel. Unless
revoked, travel authorizations are valid for two years from the
date of authorization, or until your passport expires, whichever
comes first.
If
you do have to complete the temporary holiday visa form, it is
common practice for the airline to provide you with one and allow
you to complete it on your flight across to America.

Currency:
The
standard currency in America is the US Dollar. It is obviously
recommended that you carry travellers' cheques for your own personal
safety, and US Dollar Travellers Cheques can actually be used
in transactions as cash at the majority of the most popular tourist
attractions (e.g. Disney World, Universal etc.), restaurants,
hotels and shops. It is recommended that you arrive in the US
with about $100 in cash, including one dollar bills for tipping
and taxis.

Attraction
/ Park tickets:
Although
you can purchase park tickets whilst you are in Orlando, it is
advised that you purchase your tickets before you travel to avoid
disappointment. You can go direct to the attraction/park operators
or via a third party (some websites are listed below). It can
pay to shop around, but please be confident with the company you
are purchasing from:

Tipping:
As
in the UK, tipping is a common and expected practice. Suggested
tips are 10-20% of the bill for meals in restaurants and the same
to taxi drivers.
About $1 per bag or suitcase carried by bellboys or porters at
the airport.
If you are going on an escorted tour, check beforehand whether
tips are included. If not, the tour guide and others will expect
a tip.
